Atalaia - The Guardian of the Island

From Drina's transformation, Atalaia was born — the Guardian of Fernando de Noronha.

She carries the island within her. The warm colors of its tropical waters, the volcanic soul beneath its surface and view of Dois Irmãos, rising from the ocean as one of Noronha's most iconic sights, became part of her new form.

Her name means sentinel — the one who stays, watches and guards. And in Fernando de Noronha, the name carries an even deeper meaning. Praia da Atalaia is home to a protected natural pool that serves as a nursery for marine life, sheltering creatures during some of their most vulnerable stages.

Atalaia became the sentinel of that life.She watches over the reefs, the creatures that find shelter in them, the waters surrounding the islands and every new life that begins there. There is something nurturing in her protection, even tho she's still a volcanic soul mermaid.

Fernando de Noronha was never meant to belong to her — or to anyone. It belongs to the thousands of lives that call its waters home, to the creatures that arrive to feed, reproduce and grow, and to the wild rhythms that existed long before humans came to witness them.

Atalaia simply stands guard. A sentinel between this sanctuary and those who would disturb it. A protector of the fragile balance that allows life to keep growing freely.

She watches. She nurtures. And when necessary, she can fight :)

So that the island born from fire can remain what it was always meant to be: a paradise on earth.
